Don’t let your struggles with your drawing skills hold you back from successful paintings. Face your fears head on and come prepared to learn practical approaches for drawing any subject matter. You will not be creating drawings as a finished product, but learning skills through exercises and quick studies. Everyone learns differently, so this topic will be approached from many angles. Drawing is a most important skill for any artist. Class size is limitied to 10 students. Appropriate for all levels.

Class size limited to 12 students.
SEPTEMBER 4-6 (THURS-SAT) INTENTIONAL DESIGN $525

NOVEMBER 6-8 (THURS-SAT) TAKING YOUR WORK TO THE NEXT LEVEL $625
Artists who are interested in improving their work often get stalled in their progress and just need a kick-start to get back on the path for excellence. This workshop is a chance to take a good honest look at your current work and consider what exactly needs improvement. The class will be divided Into three parts: identification of the one area that most needs improvement, individualized exercises to address the problem, studio painting to put new ideas in to practice. Four weeks of online help is included as a follow up to the class. Class size limited to 10 students.
Process, Process, Process! David Boyd Jr.
September 24-26 $485
CONTACT BRENDA COLDWELL AT brenda@on-track-studios.com for information or registration. A healthy, delicious lunch will be prepared by Brenda for $14 per day.
In this 3-day workshop, David will be leading you through the process he uses for making a painting. In the field, we will make sketches, take photos, and do gouache/ oil / acrylic color studies to bring back as references to make a finished studio painting in oils or acrylics (David’s specialty is oils and gouache, so he cannot speak too much to the technicalities of acrylic).
We will be on location in the mornings gathering, watching the light, and studying the scene. During lunch, we will focus on your references to find the best one to work up. In the afternoons, we will be in the studio creating more finished paintings from the information we gathered. You can do a different painting each afternoon with the 3-4 hours we have, or you can focus on one specific painting for all of the afternoon studio sessions.
This class is best suited to intermediate-level painters who are looking to really refine their finished work. The speed at which we proceed each day may be too much for a beginning painter.
SUPPLIES
I suggest 16x20ish for each afternoon session, 18x24ish or larger (whatever your rig can accommodate) if you are working on one painting for the afternoons. If you are selecting one LARGE painting, you will still be on location with us in the mornings, and you can use that info for paintings when you get home.
After registration, you will receive a link to a video where I go more in depth as to the specific materials I use.Things to have for class:
A Tablet device or laptop to paint from.
A smallish sketchbook for sketching.
A viewfinder.
A camera of some sort.
The oil colors you normally use, brushes, etc.
If using a different medium for field work, select colors you use for your finished work.
Canvases for field and studio work (for color studies, I like to go SMALL. 4x6, 5x7, 6x8. 16x20 for larger studio work… or whatever size you think you can paint in a few hours.
I have a small pochade I use for gouache outside, but you can hold small canvases in your hand and a Masterson Stay Wet palette to mix with.
